The day the crew is on site, not the day you want it ordered. Sod is perishable, so delivery is scheduled backwards from the morning it's being laid.

Less than most. We hold stock year-round, so same-day and next-day are often possible outside the spring rush. In April, give us as much notice as you can.

No. A single slab is 16 by 24 inches, and three pieces to patch a worn strip by the gate is a real order. There's no minimum on mulch, stone or anything else at the yard either.

Multiply length by width in feet for each section of lawn and add them together. Then add about 5% for a simple rectangle, 10% for some curves and 15% for lots of beds. A full pallet covers 450 to 500 sq ft and a half pallet 200 to 225 sq ft. Round up, not down, and bring us the number so we can check it against the shape of the yard.

Let us know as soon as the date moves. We can usually hold the order and reschedule it with you.

Down the road and out of town. If our trucks can get there, we'll bring it to you, and most orders come in one trip. When you order, tell us about gates, soft ground, tight turns, or an HOA that won't allow a truck before eight.

Yes. Bring a truck or a trailer and we'll load it for you; it takes a few minutes. Come earlier in the day in summer, because sod cut that morning is the sod you want.

Yes. Mulch, topsoil, pine straw, block, pavers, river rock, boulders and firewood can all come on the same truck as the sod.

Yes. Cut a plug about the size of your palm, an inch or two deep so the roots come with it, from the middle of the lawn rather than the edge. Bag it and bring it by. There's no appointment and no charge, and we'll tell you the species, whether it looks healthy, and what will blend with it.

Yes, sod goes down all year here. Summer sod needs water while it roots in, and winter sod needs patience. Bermuda, zoysia and centipede go brown and dormant when the nights cool off; that's the grass resting, not dying, and it greens up again in spring.
